LEADER IN TRAINING CAMP
LIT CAMP
Leader in Training (LIT) Camp is a balance of fun and learning and bridges the gap between being a camper and applying for a job at LIS in the future. Leader in Training “LITs” will make friends as they spend time participating in camp gym activities and water play, leadership development exercises, and hands-on experience in facilitating younger campers– all with the supervision of dedicated LIS staff. The goal is that LITs will have a great time and enjoy some growth along the way that adds to their preparation for future leadership opportunities in their home, school, and community.

FAQ:
How are we going to learn about/practice leadership skills?
We'll do this through a combination of growth mindset curriculum (think worksheets) and hands-on experience in working together as a team to facilitate younger campers and encourage LIS employees.
How are we going to participate with the younger children and help them enjoy their experience?
There will be a portion of the day when LIT's are able to spend time playing with and helping Tots Campers (ages 3-4) and Fives Campers (age 5). You will always be an addition to what's happening at the time and not a replacement for their coaches.
Are LIT's going to be prioritized if they apply for a job at LIS in the future?
If LIT's do well within the LIT Camp, that would certainly add to the strength of their LIS job application in the future, once they have reached the appropriate age per Tennessee labor laws.
