Shining Stars is our Girls Recreational Team

What is a recreational team?

Recreational teams give gymnasts the opportunity to learn routines which they will perform for family, friends, the community, and other area gyms in fun competition.  The demands for a recreational team are much less than a competitive team, however, it requires more commitment than recreational classes.

Who is eligible?

The team is open to girls ages 6-14. Gymnasts must have at least a pullover on bars and a bridge kick over on the floor to try out. Evaluations are required for participation.  Please contact Jaime Lloyd (director) to schedule an evaluation at

What is the mission of Shining Stars?

Our mission is to promote self-confidence and team cohesiveness through gymnastics in a fun, competitive, Christ-centered environment.   We hope to provide an alternative route for athletes to explore and grow their gymnastics abilities.

What are the goals of the program?

•        To have fun!

•        Gymnasts will continually grow and improve upon their gymnastics abilities

•        Host 1-3 fun meets throughout the year; Compete in 4-6 fun meets throughout the year

•        Expand knowledge of gymnastics by educating both gymnasts and parents

•        Help gymnasts set and reach their individual goals

How many times per week do the girls practice?

Gymnasts will attend practice twice a week for an hour and a half each class. Class times are divided into two groups, Group A & B. The groups reflect both ages and ability levels to make progressing through skills and levels more effective.  This will also help during classes as equipment settings will be much more similar throughout the groups and lesson plans will be more specialized.
